Grafton RDC would like to thank everyone that was able to attend this year’s annual meeting. This years event, held on Tuesday, October 24th at the Common Man in Plymouth, hosted nearly 50 individuals, making it one of our best attended annual meetings. Attendees included Municipal Leaders from around Grafton County, County Commissioners, Local Business Leaders, and other Political and State representatives.
The program was highlighted by Ed King, General Manager of the Littleton Food Coop, who gave the keynote presentation this year. His presentation highlighted how the Coop developed and executed its successful move to a new level of cooperative grocery merchandising and its impact on the regional economy thanks to its recent expansion. He also discussed their experiences working with Grafton RDC on the initial construction financing package and again on the expansion project.
The keynote presentation was followed by a panel discussion on innovative solutions to workforce issues facing our county. Moderated by Mike Alberts of New England Wire and joined by President and General Manager of Waterville Valley Resort Tim Smith; the discussion ranged from housing solutions to training programs supported by the State of NH. With input and comments from the attendees, it made for a dynamic conversation that Grafton RDC looks forward to continuing in the future.
Anne Duncan Cooley, Grafton RDC’s Chief Executive Officer, also gave a presentation highlighting our activities over the past year. With nearly $1.1 Million in lending last year, GRDC was able to help Grafton County businesses retain 93.25 FTE and help create another 38.5 FTE. She also talked about how our partnership with NH SBDC was able to provide free advising services to 64 clients last year alone. We would like to thank everyone again for attending this year’s annual meeting. Without your help and support we would not have been able to accomplish everything we have this past year. We would also like to thank New Hampshire Electric COOP for sponsoring this year’s event and providing a wonderful breakfast to this year’s attendees. We are excited for what the next year has in store and look forward to working with you in the future!
